Workplace Communication Skills for Inter-professional Health Care Teams
What is Workplace Communication Skills for Inter-professional Health Care Teams?
This 140-hour course addresses the skills needed for successful communication among inter-professional health care teams for dietitians, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists or social workers. Communication skills covered in the course include:
- describing one’s occupation to another professional.
- providing and gathering information on client care.
- writing a progress note.
- seeking assistance from team members.
- providing assistance to team members.
- managing challenging team interactions.
How will the course help me?
Participants will develop communication skills for working effectively on inter-professional health care teams. Participants will receive a letter of completion at the end of the course.
Who can take the course?
The course is designed for permanent residents or protected persons that have
- training and experience as a dietitian, nurse, physiotherapist, occupational therapist or social worker.
- Canadian Language Benchmarks 7/8 from a CLB assessment within 12 months of the course starting date.
How is the course delivered?
- 100 hours in class (approximately 8-10 hours per week)
- 40 hours of on-line activities (approximately 4 hours per week)
When and where are the courses being offered?
Two courses are scheduled for 2017:
Date: May 23 – July 28, 2017 twice a week 9am-3pm ( Tuesdays and Fridays)
